Publishing Your Book through The Works of George MacDonald

Next month, this website is sponsoring the publication of two books, Good Words for the Young: A Child's Devotional, and a new edition of George MacDonald's Robert Falconer. Two books are expected to be released in the first half of 2017--an illustrated anthology of MacDonald's works, and a book featuring artwork and meditations inspired by the Psalms--and a new edition of Castle Warlock is scheduled for Christmas of next year.

We consider new projects on a case-by-case basis. In some cases, we handle the interior formatting and cover design; in others, a finished product is provided by the author, and our value-added is primarily in marketing on Facebook, obtaining endorsements and reviews, selling the book through the website Bookstore, and coordinating its set-up on Amazon. Most books are published through Amazon's CreateSpace Independent Publishing unit.

The Works of George MacDonald does not seek to make a profit. All net proceeds from book sales (what's left over after paying third parties for publication and promotion expenses) go to the author, except for a percentage of net proceeds which goes to charity. Beginning with any books published in 2017, the minimum percentage for charity is 25%. The author sets the percentage.

Authors can suggest charities (which should be 501(c)3 non-profits), although our focus in 2017 is to support Hope Unlimited, Inc.'s Teen Reach program, and organizations that fight Parkinson's Disease.
