Of Death and Life

"They think that it is life, strong in them, that makes them forget death; whereas, in truth, it is death, strong in them, that makes them forget life."
George MacDonald

 Ephesians 2:1-5
"As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a]and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us,God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

John 10:10
"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

We are spiritually dead until God regenerates our hearts to have faith in Christ. God provided a way by the death of His Son for us to have eternal life. And I think He desires we live the abundant life to the full in this life before the next. We may get glimpses or tid-bits of Heaven on earth by having a relationship with the Savior of the World. Christianity is about a person, and that person is Christ. It's not a religion of just beliefs about a person. We find life when we become like Christ. True life is found only in Him by putting to death our sin. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
