Four North Winds from the 1950's: Part Four

by Robert Trexler

Here is the last of the four hardcover editions of At the Back of the North Wind I own from the 1950's with a dust jacket. This one was illustrated by George and Doris Hauman, perhaps most famous for their illustrations for The Little Engine That Could (in 1954). This edition of ABNW was published in 1950 by The MacMillan Company, New York.

I highly recommend buying a copy of this edition if you can find it for the charming illustrations which are two-toned black and green (you can get an idea of the coloring from the Diamond and Nanny illustration on the front cover). Each chapter of the book begins with an illustration as well as a few other full-page illustrations, so there are around 40 nice illustrations to enjoy.
